There are lots of similarities in these books. I will be using Shakespeare's "As you like it" to show the similar changes in these stories. "As you like it" shows that the environment can trigger an emotional alteration in a person. The Forest of Arden is a place of change. Upon entering the forest, some characters go through a psychological and spiritual change. At the start of the book Duke Frederick was evil but after entering the forest he goes through events that change his evil ways. He banished his niece from the kingdom before entering the forest, "You niece. In ten days time, if you're found within ten miles of the court, you'll die for it." Act one, scene three. His niece goes into the forest. But after Duke Frederick had experienced the change of environment he let everyone he had banished back into the kingdom and gave his crown to his brother. "His crown bequeathing to his banished brother, and all their lands restored to them again. That were with him exiled." Act five, scene three.
These sort of change are shown in both Going Off and Harry Potter. Both Harry and Greg change environment and that changes them in a positive way.
